Period poverty is the term used to describe a  lack of access to menstrual hygiene products due to  financial constraints.

For girls and women in rural communities of South Africa,  this is a prevalent problem with a significant

socio-economic impact.

Without equal access to pads and other sanitary products,  the overall health, dignity and literacy levels of female  South Africans are greatly affected.
